My training included Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Cognitive and Dialectical behavioural therapies. My preference is to use a psychodynamic approach* in order to assess each individual, but I draw from various theories and methods to create a treatment plan to suit each client’s unique needs and circumstances.
*Psychodynamic approach: This approach focuses on changing problematic behaviours, feelings and thoughts, by discovering their unconscious meanings and motivations. Psychoanalytical oriented therapies are characterised by a close working partnership between the therapist and patient. During therapy sessions, the patient gains greater self-awareness, by exploring and understanding their behaviour and thought processes.
